The current method of discovering monoclonal antibodies for therapeutic use involves a lengthy and expensive process whereby monoclonal antibodies are discovered and tested in animals before they are used in humans. As such, there is a significant inherent risk in the testing due to incompatibility between animal antibodies and the human body. The process is also time-consuming and expensive as each test must be custom made for a specific antibody.
